Did you know that girls in rural communities in Ghana miss class because they cannot afford sanitary pads? Yes, it’s a real thing. Period poverty is the name. Some girls cannot manage their periods with dignity, and we want them to regain their confidence and keep them in school.

Our confidence kit contains personal hygiene essentials which is starter-pack for rural girls and boys to take care of their bodies which will improve their self confidence together with the sister to sister and brother to brother conversations and motivation they will receive from mentors who will visit their community.
Teacher Kofi sent us a message through facebook saying that he was concerned about his students missing class because they could not afford sanitary pads. He mentioned that he had started an initiative using his own money to buy pads for the girls and wished he could get our support since sanitary pads are now very expensive. This is a male teacher who cared about his students.This is how our confidence kit idea was birthed; not just donating sanitary pads but building the confidence of these young girls in their reproductive age and giving them a sister to sister empowerment of knowing who they are, understand that menstruation is normal for every girl and taking care of their bodies which will boost their confidence.We made a list of what each bag would contain, sought the support of family and friends and our first 100 confidence kits were ready!
Meet Teacher Kofi, the high school teacher in a town called Akim Kotokuom in the Eastern Region of Ghana who inspired the making of our confidence kits. He is the real hero here!
