We believe that PRIORITISING the NEEDS and GROWTH of rural BOYS is equally as important as girls.
Our goal is to prioritise personal hygiene in rural communities among adolescent youth as key to achieving good health and wellbeing.(SDG 3)
We visited a community called #AkimKotokuom in the Easter Region of Ghana to have conversations with girls about menstruation and to our surprise, the boys decided to attend and keenly contribute to the discussions. This highlighted the need to carry boys along in the confidence empowerment agenda. We must have conversations about personal hygiene, menstruation, assertiveness and generally about life with them.
The Confidence kit for boys contains personal hygiene essentials which is starter-pack for rural boys to take care of their bodies which will improve their self confidence together with the brother to brother conversations and motivation they will receive from male mentors who will visit their community.
Each kit contains:
